Wood Stove Design Challenge
2018
With the focus of the 2018 New Generation Wood Stove Design Competition on generating electricity from the heat of a wood stove by use of thermoelectric generators, Unforgettable Fire™ was invited to return to Washington, D.C. for the international 2018 Design Competition. At the 2018 event, Unforgettable Fire™ unveiled its KD3™ gasifier wood stove prototype.
The KD3™ prototype is a vertically stacked dual firebox gasifier wood stove that was designed to produce up to 75 watts of electricity via water-cooled thermoelectric generators while at the same time, producing sufficient hot water for domestic needs or hydronic heating, with a cooktop surface. The KD3™ power management system was designed include the integration of solar and wind generation systems, if desired.
At this event, the Unforgettable Fire™ team was able to heat water, generate electricity, and cook salmon while Roger Lehet entertained the public with his electric guitar, made possible by the electricity generated by his KD3™ gasifier wood stove prototype and thermal electric generation system.
Although the disruption of COVID-19 has delayed our plans to roll out this exciting technology, we invite you to stay tuned for updates!
